Grenadier: Hohoemi no Senshi

Well then due to the lack of excitement during the recent holidays i have been on a ANIME WATCHING SPREE... or something like that, been watching pretty old animes and i shall now review those that have... Lesser hype than others.

For this review i will be talking about Grenadier. (Picture from MyAnimeList, a great site to keep track of your animes / mangas)

Well this anime is set in a kind of Warring States Era in Japan. Those kind of times were samurais and what not were around. But instead of swords, you will mostly be seeing guns. Well the main plot of the story is that a mercenary named Yajiro meets up with a girl that has exception skills in guns, or a Senshi, or Enlightened, however the translators feel like calling them. Her name is Rushuna (or Rusyuna). She is on a journey to remove all the will to fight so that the world will have peace (with everyone not fighting).

The plot is kind of cliche maybe (person goes on quest for peace) and the ending might be abit of a disappointment, but its the journey that matters!

The series does introduce some pretty interesting characters, and a few of those that will make you think "hey this looks familiar" but for those that haven't watched alot of animes, this will be pretty enjoyable.

The fights are a little too fast though, and they will constantly make you think "So thats why she has such big breasts" and she always has to reload, which makes the anime more realistic and for me more likeable.

Music however is one thing that I don't really like about it, the OP is a little off with the music... It just doesn't feel right cause the animation is all fast paced and the music is... Slow... The sounds and drawings all feel abit old fashioned, but its a pretty old anime.

Well this is what i mostly have to say... Except maybe i would prefer if Yajiou did more sword fighting (Im a sword person).

Ghost's Personal Score: 4 / 5 (maybe a 3.9)

Genre: Adventure, Action.
