Grenadier: Hohoemi no Senshi

Well then due to the lack of excitement during the recent holidays i have been on a ANIME WATCHING SPREE... or something like that, been watching pretty old animes and i shall now review those that have... Lesser hype than others.

For this review i will be talking about Grenadier. (Picture from MyAnimeList, a great site to keep track of your animes / mangas)

Well this anime is set in a kind of Warring States Era in Japan. Those kind of times were samurais and what not were around. But instead of swords, you will mostly be seeing guns. Well the main plot of the story is that a mercenary named Yajiro meets up with a girl that has exception skills in guns, or a Senshi, or Enlightened, however the translators feel like calling them. Her name is Rushuna (or Rusyuna). She is on a journey to remove all the will to fight so that the world will have peace (with everyone not fighting).

The plot is kind of cliche maybe (person goes on quest for peace) and the ending might be abit of a disappointment, but its the journey that matters!

The series does introduce some pretty interesting characters, and a few of those that will make you think "hey this looks familiar" but for those that haven't watched alot of animes, this will be pretty enjoyable.

The fights are a little too fast though, and they will constantly make you think "So thats why she has such big breasts" and she always has to reload, which makes the anime more realistic and for me more likeable.

Music however is one thing that I don't really like about it, the OP is a little off with the music... It just doesn't feel right cause the animation is all fast paced and the music is... Slow... The sounds and drawings all feel abit old fashioned, but its a pretty old anime.

Well this is what i mostly have to say... Except maybe i would prefer if Yajiou did more sword fighting (Im a sword person).

Ghost's Personal Score: 4 / 5 (maybe a 3.9)

Genre: Adventure, Action.

Utawarerumono

Utawarerumono's Characters... Got it off the net... Thanks to whoever made it..

The Cutest thing I have ever seen, really had to put it on. I mean come on! Its super CUTE!

Its another cute picture! Of my one favourite characters! Touka FTW! One of the battles in Utawarerumono. a most interesting fight.

Utawarerumono revolves around the main character, Hakuoro. He is a mysterious, masked individual who has no memory of his name, his past, or anything about himself. The story starts as he is found wounded in the forest and he is brought to the house of 2 girls and their grandmother. The story goes on as Hakuoro finds out that the village is being oppressed by the emperor of the country. After a series of events, he organises a rebellion and takes over the country as the new emperor. After becoming emperor Hakuoro tries to maintain peace within his country and tries to protect them from invasions, on the way he meets individuals who come to respect and follow him. Who is Hakuoro and what is his significance? There is more to this story that meets the eye.

Status : Completed - 26 episodes

Genre : Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

Ghost's Personal Rating : 4.5 / 5

This anime is one of the more interesting animes that I have watched. Despite there being a fairly uninteresting plot (Super protective and kind main character...), the backstory of the anime is very interesting and helps to make this somewhat normal anime into something much more. The process in which Hakuoro slowly gains power by using his superior knowledge of the battlefield to gain the upper hand against the enemies is also quite interesting to watch. The mysterious air around the main character also helps make me more interested in who he really is. With the addition of a few scenes of comedy, blood and gore, Utawarerumono is certainly a worth while watch for anyone interested in animes. On a side note i recommend playing the game, it adds to the experience. Utawarerumono was also originally a game also, with a great story and great gameplay if i must add. The anime is quite true to the original except for a few details.

Yokae Mae yori ruri iro na ~ Crescent Love ~

This is the main cast.. Mostly.. The main char is
Asagiri Tatsuya.. And for some reason, I couldnt
find a pic with everyone inside. So Princess Feena
is missing from this pic.. I to have 1 to make up though.

This a picture of Princess Feena and Tatsuya

Feena Fam Earthlight, princess of the Lunarians, (people who stay on the moon), goes to planet earth for a homestay. The homestay serves a few purposes. 1. To improve relations between the earth and the moon, 2. To be able to learn more about the earth 3. To meet up with someone whe had previously met while on earth. Her Homestay location is at the house of Hozumi Sayaka, who is the earth alliance's president's secretary. Also, "coincidently" Sayaka was the sister of Asagiri Tatsuya, the small boy whom she met while she was a kid and was on earth. However, not everything can go as smoothly as the princess wants. - Will getting to marry someone she loves and improving the ties between the moon and the earth be such a difficult task ?

Status : Completed - 12 episodes

Genre : Romance, Comedy, School, Drama, Slice of Life

Personal Rating : 4 / 5

Crescent love, though it has a very typical plot - Childhood friends reuniting etc, has suceeded more than most of the animes that have similar plot. The way they combine romance, comedy, drama, and suspense really makes you feel excited. Though it was a short time, I really enjoyed this anime to the fullest.

Bartender

The initial screen when u watch bartender .
The man there is the bartender, Sasakura Ryu
He is also known as the Glass of the Gods

1 of the cocktails known as the Bijou Cocktail,
Bijou also means gems. - looks like gems huh.

Sasagawa Ryu is the bartender at a bar in Ginza called Eden hall. Though the place from the outside looks isolated and in a small narrow alley, once you push the heavy door to the bar open, its like you are in another place. This story is about the dealings of Ryu, (a . k . a the glass of the Gods), and how he relates to the customers he serves. The anime focuses on how the cocktail relates to life and how different people have different views on bars. It also explains more in detail what the bartender's true job is. To bring joy, and others.

Status: Complete, 11 episodes.

Genre: Slice of Life, Drama, General

Personal rating : 3/5

This anime, is a very serious anime in the sense that there is no comedy content involved. It is just an anime that provides information in a different manner. No action, no comedy. However, the storyline and plot behind each story is very intersting and detailed. Not to mention the way they blend the stories and cocktails together. Overall it gives a unique experience. Not to mention , they teach about alcohol and cocktails, + at the end of each episode they teach u how to make the cocktail.

Bass - Yoshiyuki Taira
Singer - Tsunemi Chiba
Singer + Rhythm Guitar - Tanaka Yukio (Koyuki)
Lead Guitar - Ryuusuke Minami / Ray
Drummer - Yuji Sakurai (Saku)

Major concert

The wierd looking dog, BECK!

Beck is about Tanaka Yukio, otherwise known as Koyuki, a 14 year old schoolboy that doesn't really get along with people well. Through some random events, he saves a wierd looking dog which belongs to guitarist Ryuusuke Minami. After awhile, he becomes involved with him, and joins his band called BECK. The anime focuses on Koyuki trying to move with the band to stardom.

Genre: Music, Romance

Status: Completed 26 episodes.

Personal Comment: I really liked BECK cause personally I like stories about how bands build up. The music in the show is wonderful and there is an interesting storyline behind the formation of the band, and also the mysterious and charismatic guitarist - Ryuusuke. The slight blend of romance and comedy also makes this anime a very interesting and cool anime to watch. For guitar and bass fans, this is 1 anime that you should watch.
